Amazing Ocean View and Friendly Staff
This hotel offers a magnificent ocean view that you'll enjoy from your clean and new room. In addition, the staff is extremely welcoming, helpful and obliging. You have the option to enjoy the Japanese-style hotel with Onsen and walk around in a yukata. The only downside is that transportation can be an issue as the hotel is located a bit far from town. However, there's a shuttle bus, which can take you to the station, and you can schedule a pickup/drop off from/to the station to reduce the inconvenience.
One point of concern is that dinner quality is not consistent. The chef should consider paying closer attention to basic washoku cooking fundamentals. At times, the service flow of the dinner could be improved as there were long breaks between servings and the meat dish arrived lukewarm. The selection of Nihonshu is not bad, but the quality of the food could use more attention.

We had a lovely romantic escape at this hilltop hotel with stunning panoramic ocean views. The staff was friendly and eager to share their local knowledge. The traditional multi-course Japanese cuisine was spectacular, consisting of fresh ingredients and wonderfully presented. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful rotemburo with its great views over the bay and islands.
Although the location was great for us, as we were traveling by car, it might be far from the main Hagi attractions for those who aren't. the dinner quality was inconsistent - while one night was quite enjoyable, the next felt a little lackluster with long breaks between servings and lukewarm meat.
